Instrumentation Dan Nel Singer songwriter Dan Nel was born in Johannesburg South-Africa. He moved to Newmarket Ontario, Canada in 1997. It was towards the end of his high school years that he bought his first guitar. Dan started writing songs as soon as he learned a few chords on his guitar. The lyrics he writes and performs today are based from his life experiences, and the real life issues we deal with daily. Dan Nel moved to Calgary Alberta in 2004 and started writing many of the songs you will hear on his debut album "City Lights". The songs on the album each carry with them a unique story which you will hear and most likely relate to in some way. Dan’s music has been shaped over the years by some of the music industries great influences like, Eric Clapton, Gavin Degraw, Third day, Tree 63 and many more. His own creative abilities and tastes create stories that are told with a lot of zeal and truth throughout all his songs. It has been Dan’s dream to create an album with songs that he can share with the whole world. Aside from singing and writing music, Dan is working towards a degree in ministry at Ambrose University in Calgary so he can become a pastor. Rachelle's music effortlessly combines aspects of jazz, funk and Gospel into a veritable tapestry of rhythm and soulful melody. Always Ahead, released in the Spring of 2005, is five original songs centered around Rachelle's deep, powerful voice and expert piano playing, backed by a full band of talented musicians. All songs are written, performed and arranged by Rachelle, and produced by Steve Klassen at Sapphire Sound and White Water Sound. Her lyrics are authentic and revealing, with music which takes the listener from the days of the great jazz pianists in The Kind of Secret, a smooth laid back groove, to a hard hitting rock song Only my Hand with funk guitar and a whole lot of attitude. Alone with her piano in a slow, melodic, simple composition entitled Time for Change, Rachelle exhibits superior technique, proving that she really can do it all. Her influences include Eva Cassidy, Aretha Franklin, Fiona Apple, Ani Difranco and Jan Arden, and her inspiration comes from the people she has encountered and the experiences she has shared with them. http://www.myspace.com/rachellekostelyk
